Songwriter circles, often dubbed “Songwriters in the Round,” are popular in singer/songwriter circles where the best songs are freighted with meaning and often carry a significant backstory.
Earlier this year, two major songwriting forces — pioneering alternative country rocker Steve Earle and prominent folkie Shawn Colvin (“Sunny Came Home”) — hit the road with an intimate version of a songwriter circle, just the two of them.
“Songs and Stories, Together on Stage” featured all the elements singer/songwriter aficionados love, including swapping tunes, duets, and talking about how the songs came to be.
Apparently, it’s been a big hit. The March dates were extended to May and June, and now resume in the fall. They’ve included Cleveland this time, where they’ll play at the new Music Box Supper Club on the West Bank of the Flats.
