On The Rise
Just take this Sat 6/21 as an example: you might start out at Edgewater Park doing Yoga On The Beach. During the day, you might drop in at the Mulberry Creek Herb Farm or the Coit Road Farmers Market. Or the Clifton Arts & Musicfest if you find yourself on The Edge. Take the kids to see the Pushcart Players at Cain Park. Join the White Cane Walk to benefit the Sight Center. Plop down in someone’s front yard for the Larchmere Porchfest. In the evening, you might swing by the Unity Center of the Heights and catch music legend Steve Katz or pop over to The Kent Stage for the phenomenal Preservation Hall Jazz Band. Your head will rise from your shoulders and a smile will find its way to your lips.
Be sure to check out the region’s newest venue, the Music Box Supper Club, announcing their opening lineup exclusively in Cool Cleveland today.
We’ve got stories, features and previews on all the above, plus the same for every day of the week. And you can get it all 24/7 (with maps!) on your mobile and possibly even find more to your liking. Lift your eyes. –Thomas Mulready

When the Cleveland Metropolitan School District presented options a few weeks ago for construction, renovation & maintenance of their facilities, they immediately scheduled a series of Open Houses, which are already generating comments and suggestions from the public.
For example, initially the plan called for replacing Michael R. White STEM School on the East Side with a new building. But Chief Operating Officer Patrick Zohn, who oversees construction, said: “The community has indicated a preference for keeping the existing school, and we are honoring their request.” Other scenarios are changing as the District is receiving public input. “Were only halfway through the community meetings and havent made any final decisions on these scenarios.” Read more.

What was the most popular band… oh — wait a minute; I need to quickly explain something first: I hate articles that open with rhetorical questions. That’s why this one is not a rhetorical question; it’s a trick question.
Okay, now: What was the most popular band in Cleveland in the mid-’60s?…

Few males, I would venture to guess, can–upon reflection years later–recall the instance or incident whereupon they started to become men; where, when and what happened that caused them to take their first, tentative, mental steps onto the bridge that would ultimately lead them across the yawning chasm separating soft, carefree puberty from the onset–the hardening–of eventual manhood…

Quit kissing up Mansfield, to Cuyahoga County Prosecutor Tim McGinty, who should have pushed a neutral review or a prosecution of the 12 freed non- Black cops that gunned down two unarmed Blacks in cold blood….
