Singer/pianist Maya Johanna Menachem has quite a career going for herself in her native Israel. Raised on a kibbutz, where she studied music, she did her required stint in the Israeli military as a singer.
She continued to hone her chops at Tel Aviv’s Rimon School for Jazz and Contemporary Music. She has performed pop music and musical theater, folk, indie rock, classic rock, and children’s music. In 2010, she paired up with folk guitarist Shay Tochner, with whom she released three albums of folk/Americana. Recently, she’s been working on solo material, with a release out shortly.

She’s in the U.S. for some performances and has managed to work in a side trip to Cleveland where she’ll perform at Nighttown, backed by two local guitarists, David Budin and Bob Sandham.
