David Mayfield of Kent, Ohio’s musical Mayfields grew up, like his sister Jessica Lea Mayfield, playing in the family bluegrass band.
And like her, he’s spread his wings and soared into a solo career with his band the David Mayfield Parade. His most recent release, last year’s Good Man Down, which features friends like his sister, Dierks Bentley and Seth Avett, springs from the country/bluegrass roots he’s steeped in. But for Mayfield, roots are just a starting point before the music steps out into some noisy, psychedelic territory.
The David Mayfield Parade is back in town at Akron’s Musica. Peter James & His Flapping Wings and the Brothers Band open.
