Akron, Cleveland Shows Mark New @mushroomheadmrh Release

Fri 5/9 @ 6PM

Tue 5/13 @ 6:30PM

What a year Mushroomhead has been having — and it’s their 21st year as a band!

Formed in 1993 as a side project by members of some of the city’s most important metal bands, the group started wearing their now-signature masks as a way to separate this project from their “real” bands.

Little did they know that more than 20 years later, they would be playing their first shows ever in Australia and Russia.

Just a week and a half after playing in Moscow, the band’s back home for a pair of shows to celebrate the release of their latest CD, The Righteous and the Butterfly, on Megaforce Records.

It’s the eighth studio album for the band, known for its sinister costumes and masks as well as for its aggressive yet often hauntingly beautiful music, a stew of punk, metal, goth, industrial, techno, and hip hop. And after all these years, the band’s still producing its own albums here in Cleveland with the assistance of Cleveland-based recording engineer Bill Korecky who has worked with them since the beginning.

Before hitting the road for a midwest tour that will take them to places like Omaha and Detroit, they’ll play the Rock Factory in Akron on Fri 5/9 and the Agora Ballroom on Tue 5/13. Unsaid Fate and Erasing Never open both shows, with Hysteria also on the Agora show.

Tickets for the Rock Factory are $17 in advance, $20 at the door. For the Agora, they’re $20 in advance, $24 at the door.
