It’s no secret that a majority of Cool Cleveland’s readers are women. Where women go, men follow. Plus, they organize their families’ lives. At the same time, a ton of men read Cool Cleveland every day, too: online, in their email, and on their mobile.One woman has been very busy organizing JazzFest 2014, and we have an exclusive preview interview with JazzFest director Terri Pontremoli. And another with vocalist Laura Varcho celebrating her return to the Nighttown stage on International Jazz Day. Jazz Vocalist Laura Varcho will be headlining a much anticipated, long awaited concert at Nighttown on Wed 4/30 at 7PM.
It’s been nearly a decade since she last performed at Nighttown and she will be backed by a stellar trio pianist Joe Hunter, bassist Bryan Thomas and drummer Jim Richley. Varcho will be putting her interpretive trademark on pieces new to her repertoire by legendary composers including Duke Ellington, Harold Arlen and Irvin Berlin, along with a few surprises.
The Sound of Music has become the rage for audience participation screenings. And no one appreciates the musical’s corny, sentimental qualities more than gay men.
