Holidays are Here in Lake County
Lake County, Cleveland’s neighbor to the east, has a little bit of everything. Looking to stroll in a quaint town? Head to Fairport Harbor or, if you want to get some serious shopping done, go to Willoughby, home of the beloved Willoughby Brewing Company and other mom-and-pop shops.
Historic Kirtland hosts hundreds of nativities in their historic buildings and was honored by the American Bus Association, as well as other national organizations, for their yearly display. Great Lakes Mall, our wineries, the YMCA, and a variety of historical societies host Santa and Father Christmas throughout the season. Check our events calendar for his schedule!
Central Lake County, with its woods and rolling hills, is the perfect place to take in nature. Holden Arboretum — arguably the most scenic oasis in NEO — features acres of forest and maintained gardens for your hiking/strolling pleasure. Mentor Headlands and Mentor Marsh are also popular outdoor destinations. Or, check out Lake Metroparks’ Lake Erie Bluffs and working farm at Lake Farmparks!
Sure, Lake County is home to suburbs with the typical chain stores, but even these cities contain gems within the bustle — like the historical James A. Garfield National Historic Site in Mentor, the Finnish Heritage Museum in Fairport Harbor, and the Herb Society of America in Kirtland.
Need a guide? Lake County has its own tourism app to make your travels even easier. Find events, attractions, museums, transportation and more in their free app for both iPhone/iPad and Android.
