D.B.A. stands for Dante Boccuzzi Akron. The chef well known from his Cleveland restaurants has taken his cuisine south to downtown Akron to the space once filled by Chrissie Hynde’s excellent but ill-fated all-veggie place VegiTerranean. (Dante’s a rocker too, albeit a less famous one).
There he and his staff have set up a elegant restaurant worthy of a much bigger city. Its menu features a choice selection of steak, seafood, chicken and duck entrees or “headliners” as D.B.A. calls them, and a much larger selection of “opening acts,” affordable small plates to sample. Grilled flatbread pizzas are a specialty as well. Come in late for a cocktail and you’ll be surprised how sophisticated Akron can feel.
