Kent State’s African Community Theatre will premiere their Spring Production, For Colored Girls Who Have Considered Suicide When the Rainbow is Enuf, this weekend. The production is based on a choreopoem first produced in 1975 and performed on Broadway in 1976. In 2010, Tyler Perry adapted the work for his screenplay, For Colored Girls. The work consists of 20 poems conveying the challenges of contemporary African American women.
Kent’s production was created by Ntozake Shange and directed by Karamu House’s Terrence Spivey. Stop by Kent State this month to witness this powerful and captivating work.
Performances are Fri 4/11, Sat 4/12, Thu 4/24, Fri 4/25 @ 7:30 pm and Sun 4/13, Sat 4/26 & Sun 4/27 @ 2pm.
