Try walking past The Music Settlement and not hearing something that draws you in. Founded by Almeda Adams in 1912 as part of the Settlement movement, The Music Settlement offers music therapy, early childhood education, and music instruction to people of all ages and levels of experience.
The campus, set in the 1910 Burke Mansion, gives the organization a hard to beat reputation. Sign up for a lesson, or two, and join the ranks of Settlementers like singer-songwriter Tracy Chapman, “The Soloist” Nathaniel Ayers, Jamie Laredo, and Melvin Ritter, former St. Louis Orchestra concertmaster.
