Waterloo Road’s Callaloo Café brings a whiff of the Caribbean to Cleveland, thanks to owner Kelvin Cadiz who’s from Trinidad and Tobago, with a menu packed with Caribbean specialties and the strains of steel drum music provided by Cadiz’s own band.
Now he’s bringing a full-fledged island-style carnival to Callaloo. Everyone’s invited to wear colorful masks and costumes to the event, which will feature a special menu (Want to try some curried goat? Have at it!) and live music by neighborhood musicians — Al Dennis from 6-8 pm and Moko Bovo from 8-11. The staff will be decked out, and if you don’t have anything in your closet, there will be artists there to help you create your own mask to wear.
The event is free.
