It’s clear to anyone paying attention that the women of Northeast Ohio are remarkable assets to our region. Their latest effort is A Memory, A Monologue, A Rant, A Prayer, a benefit reading this Fri 3/14.
“This performance is a means to raise awareness about sexual violence, creating an open artistic space for dialogue, shattering taboos and raising funds for local anti-violence organizations…,” says co-producer/co-director Carla Lovejoy.
“This production will make people cry, laugh, and hopefully be inspired to rise up and speak up about violence against women…”

CoolCleveland’s Marty Bielat managed to catch up with Melt Bar & Grilled’s owner Matt Fish and asked him a couple questions about his new spring menu.
Mouth Watering! Matt’s “The Good Burger,” “Korean BBQ War Pig” and “The Winner Winner Chicken Dinner” looked, smelled, and tasted delicious. In addition to the hummus and arugula, the handmade vegan oat-based patty made “The Good Burger” Marty’s new favorite sandwich.
Melt’s new store in Columbus was also a hot topic in the interview. The new restaurant, which opened in November, was the first non-Cleveland based restaurant for Matt, and he couldn’t have been more excited. See how he answered our questions on the store here.
Cellar Door Productions has expanded its influence & impact on the local music scene in the last two years, just as the area has been flooded with rising bands. Last year, they presented a two-night showcase at the Beachland Ballroom & Tavern. It was so successful that Cellar Door Rendezvous returns with mostly new acts. Fri 3/14-Sat 3/15.

I took a break from a work mission trip rebuilding a crumbling log cabin in West Virginia to witness the New River from a platform perched high on the upper banks of the gorge.
The river was hundreds of feet below, an almost unapproachable descent, and the walls that rise up above it become the send-off point for paragliding. Somehow, kayakers find the canyon bottom and the wide and wild river that carved out the meandering valley.
Here, in West Virginia’s backroads of adventure, is where author Trudy Brandenburg, an avid kayaker, chose to set Nighthawks on the New River…

I agree w/ Dick — let’s not knock front line officers who, hammer-yielding tho’ they be, are merely enforcing the law. These are dumb laws, created by disconnected politicians still stuck in a 1920’s drug enforcement model, many of whom also still believe that addiction is a choice, like sexual orientation or mental illness, and thus fixable thru penalties….
