Abydos Productions is primarily a recording studio located in Cleveland’s eastern suburbs. But the studio serves as sort of a record label for some of the artists who record there, including the Blue Drivers (pictured), a group of veteran Cleveland musicians who have played with groups like Tiny Alice and Wild Horses. The quintet, fronted by Char Frires, a female singer from the Chicago-area, plays a mix of blues, jump blues, jazz, and soul, including original tunes.
They’ll be on the showcase that Abydos is presenting at the Beachland Tavern. It also includes a reggae jam hosted by local Rastafari and reggae devotee Ras Khalifa, and traditional-style folk/blues guitarist and vocalist Shane Safko.
Admission is $6.
