Some years back, popular Akron bluesman Colin John picked himself up and moved to Hawai’i. With the recent cold weather we’ve had, that looks like a smart move.
On the other hand, maybe it wasn’t so smart for him to book a January gig back in his former hometown. But how could anyone resist the chance to play at the ornate Akron Civic Theatre?
There John will headline a program presented by the Northeast Ohio Blues Association, where he’ll have a chance to show off his skills on both acoustic and electric guitar. He’s adept on both. And yes, he also plays the ukulele.
The bill also features Akron’s Jukehounds (pictured), five veteran area musicians who’ve been busy building a following around the region for the last seven years playing their dynamic, joint-jumping blues.
