KIDS: Ring in the Chinese New Year & Year of the Horse @VisitCMC

Fri 1/31 @ 11am & 3pm

Bring the kids to celebrate the Year of the Horse with Chinese New Year at the Children’s Museum of Cleveland.  The day will include two separate activities.  At 11am, kids will learn about the ancient traditions and imagery of the New Year.  Then, you’ll have an opportunity to create traditional red envelopes.  At the 3pm session, you can decorate lunar lanterns.

Red envelopes are traditionally given out at special occasions.  They symbolize good luck and are believed to ward off evil spirits.  They typically contain an even amount of money (odd denominations are reserved for funerals).  Lunar Lanterns are also used for good luck in the New Year.  These paper lanterns are traditional decorations for the New Year, and also used in a ritual ceremony.
