You don’t have to be an artist to appreciate art. Case Western Reserve University Professor of Religious Studies, Deepak Sarma, will prove this at MOCA on Thursday evening.
His lecture, Simon Says Nothing, examines collecting and cataloging from the perspective of a non-artist; creating new possible interpretations of Simon Evans’ ambiguous (if not esoteric) text based drawings, embroideries and weavings. Sarma’s lecture will discuss how Evans’ use of language transcends beyond language.
