Joe Vitale Jr. is the son of drummer Joe Vitale, a Canton native who played with Joe Walsh, the Eagles, Dan Fogelberg, and Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young.
So he was born to play music and surrounded by music growing up. But that doesn’t mean he hasn’t paid dues of his own. A multi-instrumentalist and experienced digital engineer who is influenced both by the classic rock his dad played and the heavier rock of the ’90s and beyond, the younger Vitale released his first solo album Dancing With Shadows in 2008.
Since then, he’s released another album, several soundtracks and, this past year, a pair of singles. He’s also played with tribute bands devoted to the music of Eric Clapton, Neil Young, and CSNY. But in 2011, he’s formed his own Joe Vitale Jr Band, which focuses on his own material.
That’s what he’ll be doing when he plays at Jilly’s Music room in downtown Akron. There’s no cover.
