The kid who was into zombies and other horror manifestations in high school was probably not the popular kid who got voted prom king or queen.
Those kids can have their day in the sun at the Zombie Prom.
Zombie Prom III at the Beachland Ballroom will feature music, not by some combo in tuxes playing the gooiest top 40 songs, but by the Renfields, who claim to come “shambling from the halls of Transylvania High School. In reality, they come from a place almost as terrifying: Morgantown, West Virginia.
The quartet has adopted names like “The Fiend” and “Dr. Herbert Von Renfield” to offer audiences their collision of old-school punk rock and imagery taken from horror films and comics.
“The brothers Renfield exhumed the corpses of the Ramones and expedited them back to the dark mountains of Transylvania,” their bio claims. “Some quick work with a bone saw, a pair of rib spreaders and a few syringes of a life-giving Reagent (not to mention a whole lot of pain and blood!) and each Renfields was given an impromptu heart transplant! Now armed with the reanimated hearts of Rock and Roll’s fallen heroes the Renfields will resurrect the dead music scene with the horror of Transylvanian Pogo Punk!”
DJ D-Rock will spin appropriate music between sets.
Tickets are $10, or $15 per couple (couple tickets in advance only).
