Patti LaBelle Sings @Playhousesquare To Help Give Teens a Future

Fri 11/8 @ 8PM

There isn’t really much more to be said about the illustrious career of 69-year-old soul singer Patti LaBelle.

The Philadelphia native grew up singing gospel and formed her first vocal group in her teens. She found success in the ’60s with Patti LaBelle & the Blue Bells, and in the ’70s with the group renamed LaBelle and performing in a tougher, edgier style epitomized by their huge 1974 hit “Lady Marmalade.”

Since the late ’70s, she’s had a solo career, acted in films and on Broadway, and even appeared on TV’s Top Chef.

An Evening With Patti LaBelle: A Benefit Concert for Youth Opportunities Unlimited takes place at PlayhouseSquare’s State Theatre. The northeast Ohio nonprofit, now more than three decades old, helps teens access education, job training, and paid employment.

Tickets are $35-$125.
