Opened by noted Cleveland chef Brandt Evans (of Blue Canyon in Twinsburg) in 2011 the old May Company Building, right off Public Square, Pura Vida offers gourmet breakfasts, lunches and dinner and the so-called “urban picnic,” all featuring selections that are based on familiar American comfort foods, but with distinctive twists.
The menu, while featuring all the meats a carnivore could want— chicken, salmon, meats, burgers — is exceptionally heavy on vegetables (even in the meat dishes) and is packed with tempting choices for vegetarians and vegans. Cocktails, scotch, beer, cognacs, after-dinner drinks and a lengthy list of wines are available to round out your meal. The decor is sleek and minimalist and makes artful use of lighting.
