COMICS! COMICS! COMICS! at the Kent Comic Arts Fest

This Saturday Kent State University hosts the Kent Comic Arts Fest (KentCAF) — an educational, cultural and social event dedicated to the art of graphic storytelling.  Northeast Ohio has a rich history of cartooning/comics – from Harvey Pekar and Robert Crumb to Brian Michael Bendis, from Superman to Calvin and Hobbes. Cleveland has an underrated legacy of impacting the comics industry.

Guest curators and selected exhibitors will be located in the Student Center.  Special programming will be housed at the nearby KSU Kiva

KentCAF Kiva Programming Schedule:

11am: 40 Years of Funky Winkerbean (with Tom Batiuk)
12pm: My Friend Dahmer (with Derf Backderf)
1pm: Jill Thompson’s Halloween Spooktacular (with Jill Thompson)
2pm: Guide to Graphic Storytelling Live Master Class (with P. Craig Russell)
3pm: The Artists of The Graveyard Book (with P. Craig Russell, Jill Thompson, Scott Hampton and Galen Showman)
4:15pm: P. Craig Russell Piano Musicale to Benefit CBLDF

The KentCAF VIP Party will take place on Saturday evening, from 7PM-10PM, at the Zephyr Pub in downtown Kent. Attendees can enjoy food and refreshments and socialize with our guest creators. The VIP Party is for adults only – 21 & over.

General admission is $15, Students are $10 with ID and VIP tickets are $75 (Only 50 VIP tickets are available and must be purchased in advance).
