Rock stars want to be comedians. Comedians want to be actors. Actors want to be rock stars.
And successful British TV actor Hugh Laurie, star of the popular former series House, wants to play the blues. Apparently making mid-six figures per episode is no obstacle.
It’s not that he’s ungifted. Music has always played a role in his lengthy acting and comedy career, and he’s put out two pretty decent albums in the last couple of years. Didn’t It Rain, released in May, features jazz and R&B racks in addition to blues and was produced by respected producer Joe Henry.
Since famous actors are more inaccessible than rock musicians, it’s a kick for fans to see them performing live on stage — why do think Jared Leto’s 30 Seconds to Mars even has a career?
So Laurie and his Copper Bottom Band are on tour — and they will be performing at the Kent Stage.
Tickets are $55-$68.
