Multidisciplinary Artist Speaks @ CIA’s Lunch On Friday

Fri 10/4 @ 12:15pm

Cleveland Institute of Art invites you to spend your lunch hour learning about the latest in art and design during their Lunch on Fridays lecture series. Each lecture features a variety of artists and designers from Cleveland and around the world — including CIA faculty and visiting artists.

José Carlos Teixeira creates research-based work involving video-essay, installation, performance and related photography. In his presentation, he will discuss recent projects, while expanding on broader issues in contemporary art and critical thinking.

Teixeira holds an MFA in Interdisciplinary Studio from UCLA, and a BFA from the University of Porto. His work has been shown in Europe and throughout the USA – as well as in Brazil, Singapore, China, Mozambique, and South Africa. Teixeira is a recipient of the Fulbright Grant, Gulbenkian Foundation Grant, UCLA D’Arcy Hayman Award, and the Fuso Festival Jury Prize 2011. In 2008, he was a fellow at the Akademie Schloss Solitude (Stuttgart), and recently he developed residency projects at both the MacDowell Colony and the Headlands Center for the Arts.

This event is free and open to the public. Pizza and beverages will be provided.
