Fri 9/6 @ 8PM
If you remember Kip Winger from the late ’80s/early ’90s hair metal band Winger — especially the cheesy videos where the handsome singer smoldered and showed off his body for the camera — you’re in for a surprise. The man who wrote the classic hair metal ballad “Headed for a Heartbreak” and grinding sex rocker “Seventeen” had made a lot of musical stops since then.
He’s released solo albums, expanded on his early classical training, worked with orchestras, and played acoustic shows.
He’ll be doing the latter when he appears at the Akron Civic Theatre as part of its intimate cabaret series. He’ll play some of his hair band-era hits, as well as more recent material.
Akron’s Juke Hounds will open with an acoustic set.
Tickets are $25.
