On Mon 9/23, crews from Lightening Demolition were on site at the world’s first Biocellar project. Which happens to be on the same property as the region’s first urban vineyards: The Vineyards and Biocellar of Château Hough, shepherded by Cool Cleveland’s own Mansfield Frazier.
They tore down the house (but will leave the basement intact) so that the building of the innovative Biocellar — basically an underground greenhouse — can commence once the site is cleaned up. The Biocellar will be used year-round to grow fresh fruit & vegetables in the heart of the city, addressing issues like food deserts (lack of fresh food in the inner city), jobs, retraining & re-entry, and urban agriculture.
Interested? Anyone who wants to be a part of this exciting sustainable/green/urban farming project can call Mansfield at 216.469.0124 or simply stop by The Vineyards of Château Hough, located at 66th and Hough Avenue during the day. Believe us, they find something meaningful for everyone to do, no matter their skill level or experience.
