Sérénité Restaurant and Culinary Institute in Medina isn’t just a classic French-style restaurant, although it certainly is that. It’s also a second chance for people in recovery.
The concept of giving jobs to convicted criminals at Edwin’s Restaurant and Leadership Academy in Shaker Heights worked so well, owner Brandon Chrostowski decided to expand, this time for people in recovery, working with the Recovery Center of Medina. A nonprofit like Edwin’s, Sérénité serves up French cuisine, with the beloved chef Gilbert Brenot, formerly of Maxi’s in Little Italy and Ratatouille in Beachwood, working as the executive chef, as employees learn all aspects of working in a high-end restaurant while getting paid.
Sérénité is open for lunch Monday through Friday and dinner Monday through Saturday.
