The Harp Holds Its Summer Music Festival

Sat 7/20 @ 5PM

It’s Christmas and St. Patrick’s Day in July!

Sprawling Detroit-Shoreway Irish bar the Harp is marking mid-July with its annual summer music festival.

Doors open at 4 pm for the 5 pm event. Cleveland pop-rockers the Waynes, who created a stir around town in the ’90s, open.

They’ll be followed by singer/songwriter and Harp regular Chris Allen and his band the Guilty Hearts at 6:20. At 7:20, roots rocker — and one of the area’s best and busiest singer/songwriters — Brent Kirby plays with his band the Lost Fortunes. Little big Horn plays at 8:20.

And at 9:20, breaking out from their customary St. Patrick’s Day/Christmas schedule, the Chris Allen-led Pogues tribute The Boys From the County Hell closes the evening. The festival is being billed as “family-friendly,” but given that much of the Pogues music revolved around drunkenness, you might want to take the kids home before they hit the stage and let the adults party on.

Admission is $8.
