Soulful Wanda Hunt Band at Akron Art Museum

Thu 7/25 @ 6:30PM

Soul/blues/funk ensemble the Wanda Hunt Band has been a much-loved staple of the Akron music scene for nearly two decades.

With its forceful horn section, its repertoire of Motown, Stax, Chicago blues, and New Orleans R&B, as well as originals, and especially Hunt’s tireless, emotive vocals, the group is always in demand for special events, private parties, festivals, nightclub appearances, and concert series like the Akron Art Museum’s Downtown @ Dusk, which it will play this Thursday.

The eight-member group will play from 6:30-8:30, with a brief break at 7:30 for an art talk on surrealism and music by local musician Jacob Trometta.

The music moves into the lobby if it rains. It’s free.

There’ll also be art activities for kids 6-12 if you don’t think they’re ready for Marvin Gaye and Aretha. Food and beverage will be available for purchase, and the galleries (with paid admission) and gift shop (free!) will be open until 9.

Parking at the parking deck across the street is free after 6.
