Saffron Patch, out on the far east end of Shaker Heights, is something of a Indian cuisine pioneer in the area, in business early 25 years. Many Clevelanders’ first exposure to samosa, pakoda, baingan bartha, alu gobi, and naan was in Saffron Patch’s chic surroundings, scented with the dozens of exotic spices used in the dishes. There are numerous stews simmered in their tandoor oven, and of course, plenty for vegetarians to choose from.
