Rockabilly Queen Kim Lenz Makes a Comeback at the Beachland

Tue 8/6 @ 9PM

Rockabilly-leaning roots rocker Kim Lenz got off to a roaring start, releasing several albums on respected Americana indie Hightone in the late ’90s and early ’00s.

But her career hasn’t been linear.

She took a break in the mid ’00s, after moving from her Dallas base to L.A. and giving birth to her son, making a comeback with 2009’s It’s All True.

Once again, life derailed her for a time, throwing her a few curveballs including the death last October of her friend and former bandmate Nick Curran from cancer at the age of 35.

But she’s got a new album, Follow Me, coming out this month, and she’s back on the road. The title track demonstrates that she’s lost none of her bell-voiced assurance and sass and that’s she’s still devoted to producing a retro-but-not-dated sound that pays homage to the ’50s.

She’ll be at the Beachland Tavern, with Rodney & the Regulars opening. Tickets are $10.
