This show at the Beachland Tavern by Kent’s long-running (43 years) Numbers Band is being billed as a CD release show.
Apparently the CD being pushed is Coal Tattoo, a side project by the Kidney Brothers — Numbers Band founders guitarist/vocalist Robert and multi–instrumentalist Jack. Recorded in 1998 with Pere Ubu’s David Thomas, this set of recordings was released this spring for the first time.
Regardless of what they’re releasing, the quintet is always worth hearing. Their music has never been quite like anything going on ever — driving rock shot through with heavy veins of blues and jazz.
And admission is $6.
The Kidney Brothers are also on WCPN 91.1 FM’s Around Noon Tue 6/18.
