“It ain’t no Charleston; ain’t no Buck and Wing.
All you got to do is to shake that thing.” – Papa Charlie Jackson
For those seeking a means to admire extraordinary kittens while helping endangered cats, look no further than The Ohio Modified Dolls’ bash PANDAmonium for Wildlife at Nina G’s Sat 6/29.
Tiny Love will twirl her thing in a hoop, Gypsy Jackie will articulate her torso in the ancient dance of the belly, the Tank Girlz will tear up the dance floor, while burlesque extraordinaire Carmen M Knoxide gyrates in ways you have not yet begun to imagine.
All the while, the evening’s breathtaking hosts will prove that being all-tattooed and altruistic go hand-in-inked-hand as they donate all proceeds to the World Wildlife Fund (WWF).
These aren’t the chicks whose climb into a minivan reveals a tiny ankle dolphin; these lovely ladies are often sleeved in tattoos, grommeted with piercings, and packed full of sass that is only shadowed by their philanthropic hearts.
“Through charity work and compassion for others, we hope to change the negative opinions of society of what being a tattooed modified woman means,” Jellybean Jo explained about the group. “We are mothers, sisters, daughters, and wives; we just have to go above and beyond to be accepted because of our appearance. We are the different making a difference.”
Formed in Washington, the Modified Dolls have chapters across the U.S. and in the UK and Australia. Consisting of female adults with a minimum of five body modifications, the dolls sponsor a different charity each month to raise funds and awareness. The Ohio chapter will be coming up on their one-year anniversary shortly.
“We have ladies all over the state, but regardless the distance, we all manage to come together for great causes and have become not only fellow dolls but more like sisters,” Jellybean Jo said.
Decked out in tutus and tiaras, the dolls raised $1,200 for Ohio Special Olympics in February while participating in the polar plunge at the Columbus Zoo. They have also raised money for RAINN (Rape, Abuse and Incest National Network) and The Ronald McDonald House, and were ravenous at the Zombie Apocalypse Food Drive in Greenfield.
Saturday the caravan comes to the greater Cleveland area for the event to benefit the international endangered species and environmental organization.
Perhaps Dereck Deprator will play from his 2013 EP The Animal Suite, as the Creepers and His Pals play their crypt-kicking brand of horror-rock and Johnny Habu & the Rebel Salmon get stupid.
Guy’s Pizza will donate the pie and Mike in the 216 will MC the festivities. With multiple gift baskets and local artists donating their work, lucky winners will enjoy their raffle prizes for months to come. Even the proceeds from the $2 tube shoots available throughout the evening will benefit the WWF.
Help save the animals of the world at The Ohio Modified Dolls’ PANDAmonium for Wildlife, Sat 6/29 at 7p.m. at Nina G’s, 6249 Pearl Rd. in Parma Heights, (21 and over).
