Columbus trio Scrawl were indie/college rock favorites in the late ’80s and early ’90s, with their stripped-down, visceral post-punk. Though the band toured extensively during that period, it never really enjoyed widespread success, alas.
Although drummer Carolyn O’Leary left in the early 90s, lead singer/guitarist Marcy Mays and bass guitarist Sue Harshe have soldiered on. Due to real adult lives, they’re not as active anymore. But Cleveland was fortunate to hear them at 2011’s Studio-A-Rama, the annual free concert put on by Case Western Reserve radio station WRUW 91.1 FM.
Now they’re back at the Grog Shop, with locals Obnox, GoldMINES, Ma Holos, and DJ Party Sweat opening.
Admission is $10.
