The Northside Market Place opened in downtown Akron on the ground floor of Northside Lofts in late 2018 to serve as an incubator space for local start-up companies, allowing them to put down roots and grow without taking on more overhead than they can handle. It also offers customers a chance to explore a bunch of new small businesses — including food, beer, wine, and handmade products — all in one place, and discover unique products before others do.
More than 70 small businesses now have a presence there, with a central checkout so that purchases can be made during all the marketplace’s hours even when a particular vendors isn’t present, although anchor vendors are open whenever the marketplace is.
Check out businesses such as Rubber City Clothing, Sweet Bean Chocolate, Tea Dude, Savory Snackage, Poodle Skirt Studio, Natural Pet Boutique, Akron Creamery, Akron Honey Company, Buckeye Blends, Jazz Art Glass, Garrett Candle Company, Local Breew and Dirty River Bicycle Works. The Countryside Farmers Market has a weekly market there on Sundays @ 10am-2pm.
