Young Blues Artist Gina Sicilia at the Winchester

Fri 5/24 @ 9PM

Although still in her 20s, Eastern Pennsylvania native Gina Sicilia feels like an old soul. She’s a singer-songwriter with a robust alto — accurately described by the Boston Globe as an “earthy, voluptuous voice” — and timeless songs to match.

Her heavily blues-influenced music also features honky-tonk, jazz and R & B influences; her cover of Etta James’ “Don’t Cry Baby” on her recently released album It Wasn’t Real (surrounded by her own well-crafted tunes) shows where some of her inspiration came from.

Sicilia honed her chops in Philadelphia clubs before making her recording debut 2007’s Allow Me to Confess when she was only 22. That was followed by 2008’s Hey Sugar and 2011’s Can’t Control Myself, which expanded her airplay, touring opportunities, and recognition in a blues community always hungry for fresh, young artists.

She’ll be performing at the Winchester. Tickets are $12.
