You probably know David Lindley, even if you think you don’t know him.
You mostly likely saw him onstage behind Jackson Browne back in the ’70s heyday of the Southern California soft-rock style Browne epitomized.
Lindley started out as a fiddler and banjo player and founded the cult psychedelic/folk band Kaleidoscope in the late ’60s. He played with Browne from 1971 through 1981, while doing session work for artists like Linda Ronstadt, Warren Zevon, and Rod Stewart.
After leaving Browne’s band, Lindley immersed in the world music scene. Since then, he’s been involved in a series of projects and collaborations that have stretched his musical horizons to encompass all sorts of obscure corners of the globe. They’ve led him to master a wide variety of stringed instruments, including some most people have never heard of.
But Lindley’s no pompous musical educator. He’s also known as quite a showman. And tickets to his show at the Winchester are only $15, likely to be quite a bargain.
