Daniel Thompson was a beloved poet, political activist and the founder of Poetsbank. Truthfully, he’s a local legend. And, since April is National Poetry Month, Shaker Library (main branch) is holding a celebration in his honor, complete with poetry from Ray McNiece, the music of Drumplay and saxophonist Ernie Krivda.
And, hey, it’s Daniel’s actual birthday!
All proceeds of CD sales and donations will be given to the Northeast Ohio Coalition for the Homeless (NEOCH) for their Cleveland Street Chronicle (formerly called The Homeless Grapevine) to which Daniel contributed poems and raised funds.
