Cantores Cleveland Illuminates Renaissance Rivalries

Sat 5/4 @ 7PM

Cantores Cleveland doesn’t just perform classical vocal music. It creates a wraparound environment for that music to live in.

Its program at the Nature Center at Shaker Lakes is called Where The Action Is: A Tale of Renaissance Rivalries. It casts music by composers like Josquin des Prez, Maddalena Casulana, Giovanni Gabrieli, Adrian Willaert, and others in the context of a Renaissance salon where a 1575 talent scout is looking for the “next big thing.”

“For this evening’s performance we invite you to become Paolo’s family and share in his musical decisions and judgments,” says their press release. “You will see the faces of our singers, hear their breath, and feel the movement and anticipation within the music.”

The evening will incude a 16th-century Italian states art exhibit and  post-performance reception with Renaissance-era foods and drinks.

Tickets are $25. There’s limited seating, and no tickets will be sold at the door. So go to Cantores Cleveland’s website and reserve yours now.
