Area Trio Releases Traditional American Music CD

Sat 5/4 @ 3PM

Guitarist/mandolinist/fiddler Kevin T. Richards, guitarist/harmonica player Jack DiAlesandro, and bassist Ray DeForest have been fixtures at the Barking Spider — and on the Cleveland music scene — for years, playing together (and in various other ensembles) to indulge their love of traditional American music forms.

The trio, which has dubbed itself the Spyder Stompers, is about to release a CD called Cannonball, featuring some of the blues, ragtime, and string band standards that comprise their repertoire, enhanced by their formidable instrumental skills and the vocals of all three members.

The band says it “reflects a time in history that began with the start of the 20th century and lasted nearly 50 years. It’s music that we genuinely love and we hope that CannonBall is a CD that you just can’t put down.”

Appropriately, they’re debuting it at the Spider, a cozy coach house on the Case Western Reserve campus that should be throwing open the doors to its patios right about now. Where else do you have to be on a Saturday afternoon?

It’s free; the Spider passes the hat to pay the musicians.
