Cinderella’s Tom Keifer at Peabody’s

Tue 2/19 @ 7:30PM

Is Tom Keifer “cool”? Those who recall that he was the frontman for ’80s hair-metal band Cinderella would probably not think so. But Cinderella was one of those bands whose music had more depth than their image, an image that seemed dictated by the marketing demands of the era in which they debuted. If they’d come out a decade earlier, they could’ve been Aerosmith, with their intensely rocking, bluesy, well-written songs. The band vanished, as did most of their peers, in the wake of Nirvana, their last futile album released in 1994.

Keifer is doing a series of scaled-down shows to introduce the music from his upcoming solo debut The Way Life Goes. Hopefully it will contain more hard-won wisdom than the resentful whining favored by some of Kiefer’s peers, such as former Skid Row vocalist Sebastian Bach. He’s at Peabody’s tonight. Tickets are $17 in advance, $20 at the door.
