Anne Cochran Returns to Nighttown With Duet Partner

Mon 3/4 + Tue 3/5 @ 7PM

Anne Cochran’s blossoming music career — performing in rock bands around town during high school and college and doing some touring post-college — would probably have come to a screeching halt following her marriage and the birth of her children if not for the success of her Shaker Heights High classmate and sometime musical collaborator, pianist Jim Brickman. His romantic easy-listening instrumental pop music became hugely popular after his 1995 album By Heart went gold. But to expand his appeal, he reached out to vocalists — including Cochran.

Since then, she’s toured and recorded with Brickman extensively, and had the opportunity to perform with orchestras and release albums of her own. Her latest, Two of Hearts, is a set of romantic duets with former Indiana Colts football player Benjamin Utecht. According to the bio posted by Nighttown, where the duo will be playing this week, “At age 3, Benjamin achieved football’s highest honor when he and the rest of his teammates on the 2006 Indianapolis Colts squad won Super Bowl XLI.” We don’t know if Utecht, who retired from football in 2009 and made music his full-time gig following a serious concussion, was equally precocious musically. Tickets for this CD release event are $20.
