Museum of Divine Statues

DivineStatues

Somewhat of a hidden gem in Lakewood, the Museum of Divine Statues is about preservation. Opened in 2012 in the former home of St. Hedwig’s Church by artist/restorer Lou McClung, the museum is a “reflective and reverential space,” full of restored ecclesiastical statues, many collected from local decommissioned parishes. The goal is to preserve Catholic art and a historic church because, religion aside, these pieces of art are pretty interesting to look at and are deserving of their own museum. McClung restores the statuary in his workshop in the building.

The museum is open on Sundays from noon-4pm. Admission is $10. Group tours are also available.
