Mon 1/21 11AM – 5PM
With its message of tolerance, it’s no wonder the Maltz Museum of Jewish Heritage is honoring Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day on Mon 1/21 with FREE admission all day from 11AM – 5PM.
Then at 1:30PM, be there for a musical presentation followed by a new one-act play by Cleveland poet and playwright Dr. Mary Weems, “A Conversation After A Funeral.” In the play, Anne Frank meets Emmett Till in the afterlife, just moments after his funeral. In real life, Emmett Till will be remembered as the 14-year-old African-American boy who was brutally murdered in Mississippi after reportedly flirting with a white woman.
The play has just been awarded Best New Play 2012 by The African American Playwrights Exchange (AAPEX), and is making its Cleveland debut at the Maltz Museum.
