Roger Gettig is the guy you want to talk with about your plants, trees and landscaping. He started working at Holden Arboretum as an intern in 1988, left to attend college and returned in 1996 to work as landscape consultant, land conservation manager, and now as director of horticulture and conservation.
He’s overseeing an ambition master plan, three years in the making, to transform the user experience at Holden Arboretum, including a new Visitors Center, a tree allee, an elevated 500-foot canopy walk, and an expanded Rhododendron Exploration Garden, with plans for international recognition on the scale of The Cleveland Orchestra and the Cleveland Museum of Art.
Listen as Gettig talks about all the year-round delights at Holden and exactly what an arboretum is.
