Opened in mid-2016, Hattie’s Food Hub in Akron is an offshoot of the nonprofit Hattie Larlham organization, which provides farm-to-table work training program for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Hattie’s Food Hub is a market that makes the organic produce grown at Hattie’s Garden and other local small farms available for sale to the public, along with value-added products made in-house. It promotes sustainable agriculture while giving Akronites another option for buying healthy locally grown food. Community cooking classes are also scheduled from time to time.
