It’s no secret that East Cleveland is a suburb that has been in decline for the past several decades. What can be done to remedy this situation is the theme of a new documentary, Operation Save East Cleveland, by Gezus Zaire that will be shown on Sat 7/14 at 2 p.m. at the downtown branch of the Cleveland Public Library.
In this stark documentary, Zaire examines the city’s current deplorable conditions through the voices of people who have lived, worked and learned in East Cleveland – and whose words he hopes will spark practical solutions to the problems facing the troubled town.
Zaire, a 1997 graduate of Shaw High School and former reporter for the Cleveland Call & Post, has remained a staunch advocate for his hometown, working primarily with high school students by garnering attention for their achievements and assisting them in exploring educational opportunities.
