Hospice of Western Reserve Grand Opening

Sat 6/23 1-4PM

Hospice of The Western Reserve, the oldest in NEO and one of the largest hospice programs in the country, is opening a new home away from home for the seriously ill and their families in Cuyahoga and Lorain counties.

“The Sandwich Generation” is now taking care of their own kids as well as their ailing parents. Since 1995, Hospice of the Western Reserve has operated the David Simpson Hospice House on Lake Erie on Cleveland’s East Side.

It’s nice to know that Hospice of the Western Reserve now has opened their beautiful Craftsman-style Ames Family Hospice House on a wooded lot with perennial gardens in Westlake with 32 hi-tech suites offering screened porches, family kitchens, art & music therapy rooms, a children’s playroom and a teen activity room, including flat-screen TVs in all suites with “virtual visiting” capabilities for those out of town.

The Ames Family Hospice House is striving for LEED Silver Certification and uses low-emission materials, filtration media and ventilation, and 70% of the site is vegetated open space. A bicycle rack and preferred parking for low-emission vehicles were incorporated into the plan.

Hospice services are offered free of charge and are supported by memorial donations, private gifts, Medicare/Medicaid funding and United Way funding.

The Community Open House will take place on Sat 6/23 from 1-4PM at the Ames Family Hospice House, 30080 Hospice Way, Westlake, OH 44145.
