In the 10 years since Chagrin Falls native and resident Tyler Davidson turned 26, he has produced four movies. His most recent, Take Shelter, has played at three of the most prestigious film festivals in the world — Cannes, Sundance and Toronto — winning awards at Cannes, gaining a major distributor, Sony Pictures Classics, just before Sundance, and garnering rave reviews from many national publications.
Shot entirely in Northern Ohio, Take Shelter, written and directed by Oscar winner Jeff Nichols, features two of today’s hottest movie actors, Michael Shannon and Jessica Chastain. The movie has opened in several cities, with many more to come. It previews Thu 10/27, at the Cleveland Cinematheque — the film’s Ohio premiere. Then it opens at the Cedar Lee Theater the next night, Fri 10/28.
Davidson will be on hand to introduce the film at the Cinematheque, and also for Q&As at the Cedar Lee for the 7PM Friday showing and the 4:20PM Saturday showing, as well as introducing the film at the 7PM Saturday showing.
Cool Cleveland’s David Budin caught up with the busy filmmaker recently to talk to him about Take Shelter. Watch the video here.

It is difficult to imagine the sprawling Greater Cleveland metropolis as a pristine wilderness. But, that is exactly what it was circa mid-1790s when Moses Cleaveland and his band of surveyors set out to scope the land for what came to be known as the Connecticut Western Reserve.
Let’s look upon the land as Moses and company might have witnessed it… Read more from Robert Carillio here

Conservatives Are ‘Fighting the Last War’ Against Occupiers I agree with the protesters on the whole, but I’m concerned that the solution is just not that easy. Hardship, Loans & Ripoffs You paint a grim picture with those interest rates. The great thing about our country is that there is absolutely nothin’ preventing you or anyone else from opening a cash advance store that charges as little interest as you feel would be fair…
