GuitarMania Kicks Off
United Way of Greater Cleveland’s signature public art project that has brought hundreds of cool guitars to venues all around town, is at it again.
Artists can apply to design a guitar, and guitar sponsorships are now being accepted for hip companies to show off their civic pride.
Over the years, GuitarMania has helped raise over $2 million for two benefitting charities: United Way of Greater Cleveland and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame’s education programs.
Cleveland artists and national celebrities are given blank 10-foot tall Fender Stratocaster guitars that they transform into art. Corporations, organizations and individuals sponsor the guitars and select from a variety of artists to paint, sculpt and decorate them. The guitars are then displayed through the streets of Cleveland from May through October 2012.
