VIDEO: Folk Rocks with Steve Traina of WCSB

One of the Cleveland area’s most fascinating music-radio shows for the past 10 years, Steve’s Folk, is programmed and hosted by Steve Traina on CSU’s station WSCB 89.3 FM, Saturday mornings from 9 – 11AM. It’s called Steve’s Folk, but is it folk or is it rock — or both… or neither? The answer is probably yes.

As the station’s website describes the show: “From Greenwich Village 1960, through yesterday: voices of love, protest, anger, kindness, and need. Obscure covers, requests, and songs you haven’t heard since you cut your hair and got a job. Newer stuff, too. Lots of background info and a little topical commentary. Two hours of Peace, Love and Understanding.”

Many of the shows have musical themes — like songs that came from poetry, or anti-war songs; speaking of which, there’s also a veterans’ affairs theme running through all the shows.

Cool Cleveland correspondent David Budin went into the radio studio to ask Steve Traina about all of that. Click here to hear what Traina had to say.

Hi Steve, I have been looking through a lot of old Cleveland music. Specifically La Cave. And the Beatles. Things around here should calm down in a month or so. If you have questions, I should be available.
